Book tickets and visits →Each turn lasts 15 minutes and admits at most 40 people, for conservation reasons. You must arrive 30 minutes before your booked time, with the payment receipt and an ID document, at the ticket office in Via Ruffini, about 10 m to the left of the museum's main entrance. Whoever arrives later loses the right to enter. Every visitor must go to the ticket office in person, and children and infants count towards the maximum per turn.
The museum does not state the total length of the visit: the turn in the refectory lasts 15 minutes.
The museum describes quarterly releases. The last one, opened on 23 June 2026 at 12:00, covered September to December 2026. January to April 2027 were not yet on sale on 24 October 2026, and we could not confirm the opening date. Extra tickets are put on sale every Wednesday at 12:00 for the whole following week, only online; tickets for the free first Sundays go on sale online from 12:00 on the preceding Wednesday.
The official guided visits start at fixed times. In Italian: Tuesday to Saturday at 10:30, 12:30, 16:00 and 18:00, Sunday at 16:00 and 18:00. In English: Tuesday to Saturday at 9:30, 11:30, 15:00 and 17:00, Sunday at 15:00 and 17:00. The bilingual workshop visit is on Tuesday to Saturday at 11:45 and 15:30, and on Sunday at 15:30.
The museum says it is open in the evening on some days, listed in its calendar of special days. On 24 October 2026 the calendar listed only the free first Sunday of 1 November 2026, and no evening opening. The museum also mentions the Night of the Museums (mid-May) and the European Heritage Days (last Saturday of September) with special evening openings; we could not confirm the 2027 dates.
Bulky luggage, food, drinks, flasks and bottles with liquids cannot be taken in. Free lockers are available at the ticket office while they last, for up to 60 minutes. Phone calls in the route and the refectory, loud talking, sitting on the floor and professional photos or video without written authorisation are not allowed. We found no rule on personal photos with a phone, so ask at the ticket office.
