Thursday evening openings

The museum’s site says the Pinacoteca is exceptionally open until 23:20 on 6, 15, 22 and 29 October, 5, 12, 19 and 26 November, and 3, 10 and 17 December 2026, with the last entry at 22:00 and a special evening ticket from 18:00. The ticket is valid only for the Pinacoteca. Eight of those dates fall after 24 October, the day we read the page: 29 October is the first. The evenings are not listed on the museum’s hours page, only on its online booking page. We found nothing for 2027.

The free first Sunday

Entry is free on the first Sunday of the month, with a compulsory reservation, and the ticket is valid only for the Pinacoteca, not for Palazzo Citterio. Counting from the calendar, the next ones are Sunday 1 November and Sunday 6 December 2026, and Sunday 3 January 2027 (our calculation).

Free entry and reductions

Entry is free under 18 and on the first Sunday of the month (reservation compulsory). Ages 18 to 25 have a reduced rate, which also applies to citizens of Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Also free with a valid document: teachers, students of architecture, heritage conservation, design and fine arts at the courses the museum lists, licensed guides, journalists, ICOM members and holders of the Abbonamento Musei Lombardia (not on days with special rates), among other categories on the museum’s page. Read on 24 October 2026.

Palazzo Citterio

According to its own site, Palazzo Citterio is open Tuesday to Sunday from 8:30 to 19:15, with the last entry at 18:00, and closes on 1 May, 25 December and 1 January. The first Sunday of the month is free there too, with a compulsory reservation.

Temporary exhibitions

On 24 October 2026 the museum’s site listed “Carlo Maria Mariani. L’eternità della pittura” until 10 January 2027 and “Cento anni per Brera. Acquisti e doni degli Amici” until 14 February 2027. Both are covered by La Grande Brera, according to the museum.

Before you go

The museum states no visit duration. The 2 hours of the guided tour on this site is the length of that tour only. We could not confirm the rules on bags, cloakroom, photos or food, because the pages we read do not give them.
